Batavia and LeRoy Rotary Clubs are sponsoring a Hurrican Sandy Relief Drive Friday, November 16, 6am to 6pm. Donations may to taken to the American Legion, 53 West Main Street, LeRoy  (6am to 6pm) or to the  LeRoy Village Green, Munson Street, LeRoy, or The Bank of Castile, Thompkins Insurance, 90 Main Street, Batavia, during regular business hours.  Clothing is not being accepted. Items needed include: garbage bags, blankets, cots, towels, cleaning supplies, batteries, work gloves, disposable diapers for babies and adults, non perishable food items - especially items that do not have to be heated; pet food, baby food, paper plates and cups.  Monitary donations checks may be made payable to the Mid Island Rotary Foundation, attn. Hurricane Sandy.

 Challenger Baseball
Boys and girls ages 5 to 21 with developmental and other disabilities can sign up for YMCA Challenger Baseball. Registration deadline is May 26. Games will be played Sundays, June 4 to July 2 at the Batavia Minor League Field. For more information call 344-1664
United Way Day of Caring
United Way Day of Caring will be held in Batavia, Wednesday, May 17. Registration of teams opens March 1 and will close March 31, so start getting your teams together.  Project requests must be returned to the United Way by March 17. For more information contact Erik Fix at the United Way.
Lions Club Biggest Loser
Batavia Lions Club 2nd annual Biggest Loser Weight Loss Challenge, April 15 to July 1. Registration closes April 17. Weight in April 15, at Next Level Fitness. Register online or call 455-7514 for more information.
Volunteer for HomeCare & Hospice
HomeCare & Hospice is looking for volunteers that volunteer as little as four hours a week; opportunities include office work, events, and opportunities to be trained to help people facing end of life. To make a difference on the Hospice team,  call 800-719-7129.
Transportation Volunteers Needed
DAV Volunteer Transportation Network is in need of volunteer drivers to transport Veterans to and from medical appointments in Buffalo and Batavia. Contact Doug Titus at 585-297-1170. 
 Blood Drives
The American Red Cross is in urgent need of blood donors. If you can help save a life, contact the American Red Cross online and schedule an appointment to donate blood. A blood donor card or driver's license or two other forms of identification are required at check in. Individuals who are 17 years of age or older, weigh at least 110 pounds, and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate.
Alzheimer's Support Group - Batavia
The Genesee County Alzheimer's Support Group will meet at the Richmond Memorial Library, 19 Ross Street, Batavia, the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 7pm. The group is designed to provide emotional and social support for caregivers and help participants develop methods and skills to solve problems.
Medical Transportation Program

The Genesee County Office for the Aging is in critial need of volunteers to take individuals to medical appointments outside of Genesee County. Supplemental liability insurance is provided to all volunteers and mileage reimbursement may be available. United Memorial Medical Center Healthy Living, offers classes on Childbirth, MOMS program, Breast Feeding,  Nutrition counceling, Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support, Diabetes Education Classes, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support .
