Hazardous Waste Collection

Description:

GLOW Region solid waste management will host a household hazardous waste and pharmaceutical waste collection on Saturday, September 21 by appointment ONLY.  Household cleaning products, pesticides and insecticides, oil base paints and stains, vehicle batteries, pool chemicals, driveway sealer, home computers, TV's, microwaves will be accepted free of charge. Outdated pharmaceutical waste will also be accepted. Call 344-2580 ext. 5463 to make an appointment for drop off.

Challenger Baseball
 
Boys and girls ages 5 to 21 with developmental and other disabilities are encouraged to sign up for YMCA Challenger Baseball to be played Sundays, June 14 through July 19 . Children ages 5 to 10 years will play at 4:30pm; youth ages 11 to 21 will play at 5:30pm; and young adults 16 to 21 will play at 6:30pm. Registration deadline is Friday, June 5.
Scholarship assistance available. At the Y no one is denied services due to an inability to pay. (call 344-1664 for more information.)
 
Medical Transportation Program

The Genesee County Office for the Aging is in critial need of volunteers to take individuals to medical appointments outside of Genesee County. Supplemental liability insurance is provided to all volunteers and mileage reimbursement may be available. Contact Dorian Ely, at the Office for the Aging if you are interested in volunteering. 585-343-1611.

UMMC ASK A Nurse

United Memorial Hospital will offer, "Ask a Nurse" community outreach program the First Tuesday of each month from 9am to 11am, in the Jerome Center Lobby, 16 Bank Street, Batavia; and on the Third Tuesday of each month from 9am to 11am, in the main lobby of the hospital at 127 North Street, Batavia. A registered nurse will be present to answer questions, check blood pressure, review medications, and provide diabetes risk assessments. The program is free and open to the public on a walk in basis.

Volunteer to Deliver Home Meals

The Office for the Aging is in need of volunteer drivers to deliver Home delivered meals in Batavia. You can volunteer daily or as little as once a month. Each delivery takes approximately one to one and half hours. Easy pick up accessibility and assistance with loading at the Genesee ARC Community Center, Woodrow Road, Batavia. United Memorial Medical Center Healthy Living, offers classes on Childbirth, MOMS program, Breast Feeding,  Nutrition counceling, Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support, Diabetes Education Classes, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support .
