Genesee County Cornell Cooperative Extension and the United Way will host a non profit symposium, Tuesday, August 19, 10am to noon, at the Batavia office of Cornell Cooperative Extension. Decision makers of local non profits are urged to attend. Exploration of ways to work together to meet our community's changing needs will be discussed. Register with Eric Fix at the United Way by Friday, August 15th.

Genesee ARC  Friends & Family 5K
Registration is open for the Genesee ARC Mary Anne Graney Memorial Friends and Family 5K. Walk or Run on the certified route on the Barrville Road, in Elba., Saturday, September 26. Check in opens at 8:45am; race starts at 10am. This race also completes the United Way Race Series for this year. Go online or call Sandy K at 585-343-4203 ext. 223.
Health & Humanitarian Awards
The Jerome Foundation and United Memorial Medical Center Foundation are accepting nominations for the 2015 Health and Humanitarian Award to be given Friday, December 4, at Terry Hills. Consideration will be given to actual accomplishments achieved through volunteer service and subsequent improvements to quality of life. Batavia Rotary Brewfest
Batavia Rotary Club annual Oktober Brew Fest will be held Saturday, September 26, 6:30pm to 9:30pm at Batavia Downs Gaming, Park Road, Batavia. Presale discounted tickets available at WBTA.
Batavia City Schools Orientation
All students in grades 6 - 8, who are new to Batavia Middle School, or transferring from a private or parochial school are invited to attend an orientation program, Wednesday, August 26, 9am, in the Middle School Auditorium.
Batavia Middle School will have a brief orientation program Wednesday, September 2, 4pm, in the Middle School Auditorium for 5th grade students and parents. If you have any questions, please call Julia Rogers, 585-343-2480 ext. 3001.    
Medical Transportation Program

The Genesee County Office for the Aging is in critial need of volunteers to take individuals to medical appointments outside of Genesee County. Supplemental liability insurance is provided to all volunteers and mileage reimbursement may be available. Contact Dorian Ely, at the Office for the Aging if you are interested in volunteering. 585-343-1611.


United Memorial Hospital will offer, "Ask a Nurse" community outreach program the First Tuesday of each month from 9am to 11am, in the Jerome Center Lobby, 16 Bank Street, Batavia; and on the Third Tuesday of each month from 9am to 11am, in the main lobby of the hospital at 127 North Street, Batavia. A registered nurse will be present to answer questions, check blood pressure, review medications, and provide diabetes risk assessments. The program is free and open to the public on a walk in basis.

Volunteer to Deliver Home Meals

The Office for the Aging is in need of volunteer drivers to deliver Home delivered meals in Batavia. You can volunteer daily or as little as once a month. Each delivery takes approximately one to one and half hours. Easy pick up accessibility and assistance with loading at the Genesee ARC Community Center, Woodrow Road, Batavia. United Memorial Medical Center Healthy Living, offers classes on Childbirth, MOMS program, Breast Feeding,  Nutrition counceling, Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support, Diabetes Education Classes, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support .
