A 10 year old boy visiting here from China was critically injured when struck by a car in Pembroke.
Genesee County Sheriff’s deputies say the boy, whose name they did not release, was crossing Route 77 about 8:15 last night when he was hit.
The boy was airlifted to Women and Children’s Hospital in Buffalo with what deputies said were serious injuries.
The driver of the car that struck the boy was not charged.

An Orleans County man is dead after his motorcycle strikes a deer in the Town of Carlton. Authorities say William Carpenter the Third of Lyndonville died yesterday morning on Route 279.
Deputies said after striking the deer Carpenter’s motorcycle skidded 200 feet on its side and Carpenter was ejected from the bike.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brockport police are investigating the apparent murder of a Lyndonville woman.
Police say 33-year-old Megan Dix was found in her car Friday night with a gunshot wound to her head. 
She had reportedly left her job at the Brockport Lowe's for lunch a few hours before her body was found. 
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.

A scout for the Toronto Maple Leafs is accused of stealing a golf cart at Darien Lake and crashing it, while – according to police – he was drunk.
Lindsay Hofford of Ontario was arraigned yesterday after authorities said he stole the golf cart, hit a vehicle and then left the scene. 
He's the director of Eastern Area Scouting for the Maple Leafs. 
A Maple Leafs spokesman declined to add any additional comments.

A three year first timer wins the Batavia Downs Dachshund Dash.
Ruby, who is owned by Patrick Gorman of Buffalo, NY, served notice yesterday with an electrifying heat victory believed to be the fastest win ever at Batavia.
In the final she took the lead soon after the start and cruised to victory.
For her efforts her owner takes home $135 in Batavia Downs Gaming Free Play and two clubhouse buffets.
Ruby apparently wins "wagging" rights.
