Representative Steve Brady says National Grid will be able to fix the problem at the Corfu substation without affecting service in the Village of Corfu. There will be no planned power outage for the Village of Corfu this afternoon.
National Grid has confirmed to WBTA that the power company may have to shut off power to the Village of Corfu this afternoon, sometime between 4:00pm and 6:00pm.
Representative Steve Brady tells WBTA that an insulator at the Corfu sub-station is currently glowing red-hot. Power needs to be shut off at that sub-station to analyze and repair the problem.
This may require power being shut off to the Village of Corfu for up to 45 minutes this afternoon. However, Brady says it may be possible for National Grid to switch the Village onto another nearby sub-station, thus having no interruption of service for Village of Corfu residents.
Village residents: if power is indeed shut off, National Grid will contact you prior to the cut on your registered phone number to let you know for sure.
