Two women from Erie County will face off in the special congressional election in Western New York.
Democrat Kathy Hochul was selected over the weekend to represent her party in the May 24th election.
Hochul is currently the Erie County Clerk.
She will have an uphill climb in the 26th Congressional District which is heavily Republican.
The GOP candidate is Clarence Assemblywoman Jane Corwin.
The special election will fill the congressional seat left vacant with the sudden resignation of Chris Lee.

Local lawmen get some suspected heroin off the streets with the arrest of a Batavia man.
21-year-old Jarrett Locicero of West Main Street is behind bars today. Members of the Genesee County Drug Task Force searched Licicero’s home and car and came up with several individual packages of heroin and $4,000 in cash.

A Corfu woman is facing a felony drunk driving charge under Leandra’s Law. 32-year-old Yolanda Skeet of Corfu was stopped for speeding along the thruway in Ontario County yesterday. Troopers say Skeet’s blood alcohol exceeded the legal limit. They also found a nine year old child in the car

36-year-old Sabria Zinni of North Spruce St., Batavia has been jailed on $1,000 bail.
Batavia Police arrested Sabrina on a city court warrant.
That warrant was issued, authorities said, after Sabrina showed up at the county jail for court ordered a work detail while "under the influence of alcohol.

New York State School Superintendents don't agree with Governor Cuomo’s funding cuts.  Cuomo suggests superintendents eliminate waste and abuse to avoid losing any teachers' jobs if one-point-five-billion-dollars in education cuts are approved.  The state council of school superintendents says the governor doesn't understand their plight and believes Cuomo's allegations are, quote, "absolutely obscene."
