Bail has been set at $1-million for a suspected illegal immigrant living in Albion at the time police say he murdered his wife’s sister.
21-year-old Carlos Cardenas is facing charges of murder and rape in the January strangulation death of 15-year-old Katherine Sanchez.
Her body was discovered in February in an apple orchard in Ridgeway.
Cardenas has maintained he and the girl had consensual sex and when she threatened to tell her sister, Cardenas said, he accidentally strangled her.

City crews are shutting off the water, temporarily, on McKinley, Haller Place and Harvester around 8:30 this morning.
Expect the water to be off for two hours.
School bus drivers across New York have been told to be on alert following an e-mail threat sent to members of the media and various state officials. The anonymous message carried the subject line "Time to Kill," and was sent Friday by someone claiming to be a state employee. One part of the message makes specific reference to a violent attack on a school bus. While no specific district was singled out, the State Education Department urges extra security measures.
Batavia’s Yard Waste Station opens for the season this Monday.
The station, on Law St., will be open Monday through Saturday from Noon until 6pm.
There will be no spring curb side pick-up.
The Yard Waste station does NOT accept building materials or other debris.
