An Avon teenager has died from injuries he suffered in a one car accident that injured four other young people in the Monroe County Town of Rush.
17-year-old David Greer of Avon died early this morning at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Greer was one of three backseat passengers thrown from the car that crashed into a tree on East River Road in Rush around 8 last night.
Four of the teens, including Greer, attended Avon High School.
The driver, 18-year-old Cassandra Mader, graduated last year.
Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies said the car ran off the highway, hit the tree and overturned. The vehicle landed on its top and caught fire.
Mader and the other three teenagers in the car were not seriously injured.
Grief counselors are available at Avon High School today.
Deputies said that speed was a factor in the crash but there was no indication that alcohol was involved.
