24-year-old Michael Wells of Buffalo has been sentenced to 12 1/2 years in prison for his role in the armed robbery of Elba's M&T Bank in June. That's just 2 1/2 years less than the maximum possible prison term for the crime.
The sentence was handed down in Genesee County Court early this afternoon by Judge Robert Noonan.
Testifying today were both of the bank tellers who had guns held to their head during the heist. Patty Ann Hackett spoke to the court for 15 minutes and described in detail the violent scene inside the bank. LISTEN
Two other accomplices, 26-year-old Dennis Abrams and 25-year-old Demone Dillon, were also involved in the robbery. They are awaiting sentencing.
