A Batavia native wins the television editor’s version of an Academy Award.
Josh Earl, a graduate of Batavia High School has won his industry’s top honor, an Eddie award, for his work on the Discovery Channel’s realty series, “Deadliest Catch.”
Earl received his award Sunday night in a black-tie, red carpet Hollywood style ceremony.

We reached Earl in Los Angeles and he spoke with us about his journey from Batavia, to College in nearby Edinboro and to the West Coast

One of the show's featured fishing boat captains, Phil Harris, died last week from a massive stroke. 
Earl could not say what Harris' death means for the future of the the show.
