Western New York’s newest member of congress, Kathy Hochul, brings home her first package of pork and it’s coming to Genesee County.
Hochul has announced a federal grant of $1.3-million destined for the Genesee County Airport.
The money will be used to expand the apron of the airport, the area used to move and park aircraft.
Hochul took office following last month’s special election in New York’s 26th Congressional District.

A Batavia man, just arrested for suspected Heroin possession, has now been busted for a two year old burglary.
22-year-old Justin Barker of N. Lyon Street has been arrested for breaking into a restaurant at Darien Lake back in 2009.
Two weeks ago, Barker was arrested at the Days Inn in Batavia for allegedly possessing 74 bags of heroin.

Ask anyone who has walked across the Batavia campus of Genesee Community College and they’ll tell you: it is one of the windiest places in Western New York.
It’s perfect for a windmill…and now, the school is getting one.
The school’s Board of Trustees approved the construction of a wind turbine on the northeast corner of the campus, near the Thruway.
It will be for educational purposes and, at just 70 ft., be much shorter than conventional turbines.
Batavia, Alexander, and Pavilion schools will use the turbine for classroom purposes. 

Wyoming County Community Hospital is scaling back a major renovation.
A 38,000 sq. ft.addition to the hospital has been eliminated from the project.
The addition would have housed radiology, surgical suites, and a new emergency room. The addition would have pushed the project $11-million over budget.

Gay marriage could soon be the reality in New York.  Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Assembly Member Daniel O'Donnell announced passage of the Marriage Equality Act yesterday.  The measure would allow same sex couples to enter into civil marriages.  It's the fourth time since 2007 that the Assembly has passed marriage equality legislation.  Governor Andrew Cuomo has said that he will sign the bill if it clears the Senate.
