Genesee County needs to update its emergency preparedness plans.
The Public Safety Committee of the legislature has recommended the use of up to $89,355 in Homeland Security grant money to hire an outside consultant to update the plans.
Keith Hunt is Genesee County’s Deputy Coordinator of Emergency Services.
Hunt tells WBTA's Dan Fischer much of the work to be done on the plans are mandated:
The full legislature will be asked to approve $26,000 of grant money to begin the update this year, the balance of the consultant’s fee would be approved in future years and only if grant money is available.
