Six people are homeless following a fire in Perry. Authorities believe a pile of debris stacked outside a three story building caught fire at the corner of Water and Elm Streets in Perry late on Sunday night.
The fire spread to shrubbery and then to the structure.
The blaze burned into the early morning hours yesterday.
One volunteer fireman suffered a broken ankle alerting occupants to get out. All managed to escape safely.
A total of 14 fire companies from Wyoming, Livingston and Genesee counties fought the fire.
Organizers of Batavia’s annual Picnic in the Park say the turnout for this year’s event was probably the biggest ever.
Hundreds of families gathered in Centennial Park yesterday.
Huge crowds turned out later for the annual fireworks show following the Muckdogs Game at Dwyer Stadium.

A Stafford man is facing a felony drunk driving charge.
26-year-old Patrick Potwora of Horseshoe Lake Road was stopped on Route 5 in the city and arrested by Genesee County Sheriff's Deputies.
Nicole Poler, 26, of Albion has been charged with DWI.
Deputies said Poler was involved in a one-car accident on Route 77 in Corfu over the weekend.
During the investigation of the accident, she was charged with drunk driving.
One arrest over the holiday weekend for illegal fireworks.
21-year-old Derek Hanchett of Arnold Road in Elba will have to answer the charge in Elba Town Court.
Deputies say Hanchett was setting off fireworks - at 1:30 in the morning.
Talk of higher office for Andrew Cuomo, already?
The New York Post is reporting that one prominent Republican and one prominent Democrat both believe President Obama is going to ask Cuomo to be his running mate for vice president in 2012.
If true, Cuomo would replace current Vice President Joe Biden, who would slide over and replace Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who has said she does not want to serve a second term in the office.
