An apparent accidental drowning has claimed the life of 3-year-old Andrea Mangefrida of LeRoy. She was found unresponsive on Saturday night in the swimming pool of her grandparents' home in Alexander. She did Sunday at Buffalo’s Children’s Hospital.

A convicted sexual abuser will be spending the next seven years in jail. 21-year-old Patrick Donahue of Batavia received his sentence after a plea bargain reduced the charges from First Degree Rape to Felony Sexual Abuse. The case involved an attack on a 30-year-old woman last January on Walnut Street. Judge Robert Noonan called Donahue’s crimes, "a slight grade below murder."
After serving the 7 years, Donahue will be on probation for 10 years. He is also serving a concurrent sentence for violation of probation.
Also in County Court yesterday, 27-year-old Raymond Allard was given two consecutive 6-year prison terms by Judge Noonan – meaning he will spend 12 years in jail. He was originally charged with 51 counts of Second Degree Rape and 14 counts of Criminal Sexual Act. He received his sentence based on two of the rape charges.
In court, Allard told Judge Noon that he knows this is the biggest mistake of his life, and that this is really not the kind of person he is. Noonan replied, "this is exactly the kind of person you are."
