Strong Memorial Hospital listed Patricia Ireland in "Guarded" condition. Truck driver Gregory Wodzicki was released following treatment.

A Bergen woman is seriously injured and has been Mercy Flighted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, following a horrific three-vehicle crash in LeRoy, in which an 18-wheeler destroyed two other cars.

55-year-old Patricia Ireland suffered undisclosed injuries when her vehicle was smacked head-on by a jack-knifing tractor-trailer.

The Mack truck from Dolomite Aggregates of Rochester was northbound going over the I-90 overpass, carrying a full load of gravel. In front of the truck, a 2008 Mazda driven by 22-year-old Gregory Wodzicki of Rush began to slow for unknown reasons. The truck driver, 44-year-old Howard Mcintyre of Vestal, was unable to stop and rammed into the rear-end of the Mazda, pushing it off the roadway.

The truck then caught the shoulder of the road and began to jack-knife, eventually flipping onto its side. As the truck swung wide across the roadway, it slammed into Ireland's 2006 Chevy Impala. Ireland's car was knocked back roughly 150-feet, according to LeRoy Fire Chief Mike Sheflin.

The truck dumped its entire load of stone, then left the roadway, promptly bursting into flame. Mcintyre was able to escape the truck without serious injury.
Patricia Ireland was entrapped in her vehicle, and extrication reportedly took about 12 minutes from the time of responders' arrival. Ireland was Mercy Flighted to Strong.

Howard Mcintyre suffered internal injuries and was taken to Strong by ambulance. Gregory Wodzicki and his passenger, 23-year-old Jason Hightower of Rush, were both taken to Strong by ground ambulance with minor injuries.

No charges have been filed. The investigation continues.

My name is Gordie Johnson and I was the first person at the scene and I would just like to know how Patty Ireland is doing. I'm from Latham NY and can't find any articles on her condition.

Patty Ireland died from her injuries last Thursday.
She left 3 beautiful children and close-knit loving family.
I pray that the Lord will be more forgiving toward the individuals who caused this accident and killed her, because I'm sure not.
