A seriously injured deer hunter uses his cell phone to call for help but is unable to speak.
Authorities located the hunter in the Town of Alexander using GPS technology.
44-year-old John Starkweather of Bethany was hunting last night in woods off of Gilhooly Road in Alexander. He was in a tree about 35 up. On his way down, and branch broke and he fell to the ground.
Starkweather managed to call 9-1-1 but was unable to clearly tell dispatchers where he was.
They used GPS technology to locate Starkweather. He was rescued and flown to ECMC in Buffalo where he is listed in serious condition this morning.
The North Street sewer replacement project in Batavia is not yet finished. It was to have been completed almost two months ago and neighbors are fed up.
A representative for the contractor, Tom Greenhauer Development, admitted the project was late. He said that the company will, "probably be facing litigation.”
Officials at Batavia City Hall have been unavailable for comment.
In Livingston County, a 75-year-old man, out looking for his dog, was run over by his own van and died.
Jack Farley lived on Doran Road just outside the village of Lima.
Yesterday afternoon, he stopped his van along the highway to get out and look for his dog. Apparently, the van was left in reverse and not in park.
The vehicle rolled backward and knocked Farley to the ground, where he died. Investigators say Farley had health problems which may have contributed to the accident.
His dog was found later in the day and returned home.
A Town of Greece woman, seriously injured in an accident in the Orleans County Town of Kendall over a month ago, has died. 41-year-old Renee Tschetter died at Strong Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient since the accident on September 25. Tschetter was a passenger on a motorcycle traveling along Roosevelt Highway in Kendall. A car pulled in front of the motorcycle.
The Buffalo Sabres return to action tonight. The Sabres host the Philadelphia Flyers later this evening at First Niagara Center. Philadelphia will be without All-Star defenseman Chris Pronger, who was put on injured reserve Tuesday, eight days after suffering a serious eye injury. The game can heard on AM 1490, WBTA.
