The closest race was for Batavia City Council in Ward Number 4…where Republican Robert Bialkowski leads Democrat Pierluigi Cipollone by just two votes, 202 to 200. We are saying that is too close to call.


In Monroe County Maggie Brooks was re-elected for a third term as County Executive. She defeated Sandra Frankel. In the race for Monroe County D.A.. Sandra Doorley defeated Bill Taylor.

In Erie County there will be a new County Executive, as Mark Poloncarz upset incumbent Chris Collins.
A one car crash on the North Byron Road in Elba yesterday afternoon has claimed a life. 67 year old Linda Brown of Elba was killed when her car left North Byron Road and struck a tree. Brown was alone in her vehicle. State Police officials say its unclear why Brown veered off the roadway. Officials say alcohol was not a factor in the accident. Brown was alone in her car.

Three persons were injured in a two car rear-end crash on route 33 in the Town of Pembroke Tuesday evening. 83 year old Raymond Judd of the Phelps Road in Corfu, the driver of one of the cars along with his passenger, 62 year old Rosa Laurentina were both taken to United Memorial Medical Center. Also the driver of the other car, 46 year old Diane Wheaton of the Blood Road in Cowlesville was transported to UMMC. None of the injuries were termed serious. Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies say Wheaton slowed for a tractor trailer truck ahead of her and was struck by the car driven by Judd. 

A Pavilion man is behind bars this morning after he was stopped by Genesee County Deputies while walking along the Perry Road in Pavilion yesterday morning. A small bag of marijuana and a set of metal knuckles was found on 26 year old Angel Andujar of the Perry Road. He has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon and with unlawful possession of marijuana.

For the second time this week, 26 year old Charles Ryanof Strykersville has been arrested. Over the week-end Ryan was charged with assault for stabbing his brother in-law in the back and while in jail has now been found to be in possession of a handmade edged weapon. He has been charged additionally with possessing dangerous prison contraband.

November 8th 2011 will go down in the record books for the warmest November 8th on record. The temperature hit 70 at the Buffalo International Airport yesterday at 2:57 in the afternoon. That broke the old record of 69 set back in 1945. Yesterday in Batavia, our high temperature was 68.
