State Police confirm today that a sleeping driver drifted off the roadway on Route 33 in Stafford, and sheared off a utility pole.
26-year-old Joshua Arnold received only minor injuries when his 2000 Isuzu left the roadway and crashed through the pole, before coming to rest in a field. Arnold was taken to Strong Hospital in Rochester with minor injuries.
The pole carried cable and phone lines, which were dropped in the road after the crash. Route 33 was shut down for hours, as Verizon crews had to be called to remove their wire from the roadway.
