Sex Abuse Scandal
There are now sex abuse allegations at Syracuse University, where an assistant basketball coach is accused of molesting ball-boys for over a decade. All of this shocking news has spurred the New York State legislature to write a new bill requiring college coaches, professors, administrators and others to report child sexual abuse to police.
Several other states are pursuing similar actions.
Victims continue to come forward in the Penn State sex abuse scandal. The Syracuse basketball accusations broke late Thursday night.
A Rochester man is facing Grand Jury indictment locally, for allegedly breaking into, vandalizing, and stealing from a local church.
18-year-old Jose Morales of Rochester is accused of breaking down the back door to Bergen’s United Methodist Church last January. The Genesee County Sheriff’s Department at the time told WBTA News that the suspect had taken enough coins, quote, “to fill a mayonnaise jar.” Morales also allegedly busted some file cabinets and broke a few pieces of furniture.
Jose Morales is also suspected in more church break-ins in Monroe County. He is awaiting an upcoming court date
Attica Woman Killed in Accident
An Attica woman was killed while simply walking her dog down her own road. Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies tell WBTA News that 58-year-old Margaret Reed of Exchange Street in Attica was strolling with her dog down the side of the road.
A driver, 67-year-old Roy Amedick, also of Exchange Street, was headed southbound when he slammed into Margaret Reed. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
No cause has been determined and no charges are currently filed. The investigation is ongoing.
Alleged Rape in Batavia
A man is under investigation after he allegedly forcibly touched the victim. 33 year old Oscar Ramirez of Batavia, NY allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with a female by force against her will.
Ramirez was arraigned in the Town of Batavia Court and remanded to the Genesee County Jail without bail.
He is expected court day is the 13th of next month. The Genesee County sheriff’s office assisted with the arrest.
