For more than half of the Batavia City Council, tonight will be their last meeting.
Five new faces will be on council next month.
Council President Marianne Clattenburg and Councilman at-large Frank Ferrando have both been elected to the Genesee County Legislature.
Ward One Councilmen William Cox and Ward 4’s Bob Bialkowski were defeated in their re-election bid. Kris Doeringer replaces Cox, Pier Cippolone takes over in Ward 4.
Ward 3’s Sam Barone did not seek re-election. The Ward 3 post was won by John Canale.
Lawmakers are calling for a passenger advocate at airports to act on complaints about security screenings, but the T-S-A says it's planning its own advocacy service. Under a proposal backed by Senator Charles Schumer, an advocate could be summoned in person.
"Right now if you go to the airport and a potentially embarrassing experience is about to occur, you only have two choices. Go through the humiliating search or don't get on your planned flight."
The Transportation Security Administration says it will establish a toll-free hotline in January for those who may need assistance during screenings.
Byron-Bergen Central Schools needed a new superintendent, and they didn’t have to look far.
The school board tapped LeRoy elementary Principal Casey Kosiorek to be the new superintendent of Byron-Bergen.
Kosiorek replaces Scott Martzloff who resigned at the end of the last school year to take the same job with Williamsville Central.
Kosiorek starts his new job at Byron-Bergen January 9th.
A Livingston County man has been arrested on felony charges for allegedly lying to lawmen about his role in a car crash that claimed two lives.
29-year-old William Scheldorn of West Sparta has been charged with Felony Drunk Driving, driving without a license and making a false statement.
The crash occurred in West Sparta on November 27th and killed Joshua Price and Katie Burr.
Deputies say Schledorn was friends with both Burr and Price and lied to deputies about his actions on the night of the crash.
Schledorn is now locked up in the Livingston County Jail.
The Bills are reviewing what went wrong during yesterday's matchup against the Chargers. In that game, Philip Rivers threw for 240 yards and three touchdowns to give San Diego the 37-10 win. Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick completed just 13-of-34 passes for 176 yards and two interceptions. Buffalo started the season 4-and-1, but has now lost six straight to fall to 5-and-8.
