Batavia High School has hired a new varsity football head coach.
26-year-old Brennan Briggs, an alumnus of the school for just 8 years, takes the reigns of the program this fall, after coaching the schools J-V team to an undefeated season this past year.
Briggs takes over a program that has seen marginal success, at best, in recent years. Last season, the team went 2-5 in a Rochester-based league, missing the sectional playoffs yet again.
New head coach Briggs says that’s got to change. He tells WBTA:
“The kids need to believe they can win. It’s going to take commitment in the off season, we are already starting morning lifts before school. When it comes down to fourth and inches, each kids that puts in the time at 6 in the morning, put in the time together and sacrificed, that’s a step in then right direction. I really want to establish this culture.”

Brennan teaches physical education at Batavia Schools.
