Lake Effect Snow is forecast for most areas of Western New York, but not here.
The National Weather Service cancelled its Lake Effect Snow Warning for Genesee and Wyoming Counties.
We are expecting an inch of less of new snow during the day today, and 2 to 4 inches by tonight.
To the south and east of us, a different story.
The Southern Tier could get up to a foot of snow today.
A Lake Effect snow warning also posted for Monroe County.
A Batavia man charged with Drunk Driving after his car ran off Walnut Street, through a fence and into Tonawanda Creek.
It happed early New Year’s Day.
21-year-old Zachary Leitten of Shepard Road suffered minor injuries and was treated at UMMC.
This is the official New Year’s holiday observance.
All government offices, banks and schools are closed today.
There will be no mail delivery.
New Rules taking effect with the New Year:
The expanded "Move Over" law.
The ordinance already covers emergency vehicles, police cars and fire trucks.
Drivers must now move over for tow trucks, maintenance crews, utility vehicles, and letter carriers.
It is now illegal to throw that old television or other electronic item in the trash. New York State's new recycling law is now in effect prohibiting items including computers to be dumped in landfills. All electronics must now be recycled.
Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks has made history once again by becoming the first person to hold the office for three terms. She became the first female County Executive back in 2004 when she won her first term. The Republican says she promises to work hard and spend tax dollars wisely.
