The Georgia man accused of sprinting across the New York State Thruway in Batavia in July 2011, in an effort to escape police, has now admitted he had a good amount of drugs on his person at the time.
Derick Barker, 26, pleaded guilty in Genesee County Court Wednesday morning to a pair of felony counts. The first was a criminal possession charge. Barker admitted he had a great deal of cocaine on his person the day he ran from police.
The other was a criminal strangulation charge. While Barker was in jail, he admits he choked another inmate in a fit of rage.
Barker is facing up to 8 years in jail. He’ll be sentenced in April.
