A High Wind Warning remains in effect for Batavia and Genesee County until 10 o’clock tonight.
The strong winds moved into Genesee County as predicted right after midnight.
A peak gust of 46-miles an hour was recorded overnight at the State School for the Blind in Batavia.
But, there has been no significant damage or power outages caused by these winds locally.
A check with National Grid shows no power failures in Genesee County.
Local police agencies also confirm there were no serious weather related incidents.
Despite a push from U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer there is still no designated Veteran’s Cemetery planned for Western New York. Schumer visited here last summer and called for a cemetery in Genesee County or neighboring Erie County.
Now, Schumer’s pushing again. This time he wants the Veterans Administration to present a specific, expedited timeline to get the job done.
Currently, the closet veteran’s cemetery to Genesee County is located in Bath, nearly an hour and a half away.

University Eye is expanding its Summit Street location by nearly 2,000 sq. ft.The practice will create six new jobs.
The EDC provided University Eye with a $78,000 sales and property tax exemption for the addition.
And R&D Electronics at the corner of Clinton Street and Seven Springs Road will get a $90,000 break on mortgage and sales & property taxes.
R&D is building an 11-thousand square foot warehouse for storage and repairs. They’ll also create 6 new jobs.
When you are on probation for a felony conviction, you are not supposed to possess weapons.
Deputies say 49-year-old Eric Zglinicki of Darien Center did not heed that rule.
A search of his home by Probation Officers and Deputies turned up three shotguns.
Zglinicki is charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
A bar fight has a pair of Batavia men bruised, battered, and facing criminal charges.
29-year-old Willie Irvin of Elm Street and 24-year-old Randy Johnson of Walnut Street, are both charged with Reckless Endangerment of Property.
Batavia Police say the two got into it at an East Main Street bar Thursday night and before the fracas was over, they’d tumbled into a glass display case and broke a video game system.
Irvin was also charged with Criminal Mischief.
Both are due in court next Tuesday.
In sports this morning, the Elba Lady Lancers are on top of the World…or at least the Section 5 Class Doube-D championship.
The Elba girls defeated Notre Dame last night 44 to 33…it was the third straight title for the Elba.
