High winds, then snow! About a half an inch of snow fell Saturday night in the Batavia area. That followed Saturday’s very high winds. National Grid is reporting no power outages in Genesee County as of Sunday morning. There are reports of 159 power outages in Buffalo and 5 in Niagara Falls. The highest wind gust reported by the National Weather Service in Buffalo yesterday was 63mph, and in Rochester 66mph.

Three persons were injured Saturday afternoon in a one-car accident on 
Slusser Road in the Town of Pembroke. Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies say the driver of the car, Shaunta Jackson, 23 of Batavia, told them she served to avoid a deer and lost control causing the car to overturn. Jackson, along with her passengers, Nikayla Jackson, 19 and Kyle Jackson, 18, were all taken to Erie County Medical Center complaining of pain. No tickets were issued.

A traffic stop in LeRoy Saturday morning for an inadequate headlight resulted in the arrest of the driver on alcohol and drug charges. Cody Osborn. 24 of State Street in Caledonia, was charged with felony DWI, possession of an open container in a vehicle, and unlawful possession of marijuana along with charges of aggravated Unlicensed Operation and driving with an inadequate headlight. Osborn is in the Genesee County Jail with bail set at $1,500.

Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies made two arrests on Saturday:
Shawn McGiveron, 23 of Upper East Main in Corfu, was arrested Saturday on a charge of Criminal Contempt. He allegedly sent a text message and made a phone call to a person who had an order of Protection issued against McGiveron.
Allen Dockstader, 29 of Council House Road in Alabama, was arrested on a bench warrant Saturday. During an investigation of a Criminal Mischief complaint it was determined that Dockstader was allegedly violating probation.

A Dansville man was killed in a one-car accident in North Danville Saturday morning. He was identified as Joshua Stiggins, 22. Stiggins was a passenger in a car that overturned on Frontage Road, a dead end road. Stiggins was ejected from the vehicle. Four other persons were injured in the accident. The driver of the car, Clayton Benedict, 18 of West Sparta, has been charged with DWI, Vehicular Manslaughter and various traffic offenses. Benedict was arraigned in West Sparta Town Court and remanded to the Livingston County Jail on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
