The Elba Lady Lancers have won their first ever New York State Girls Basketball Class 'D' Championship, defeating Argyle High School Sunday afternoon, 48-34.

The Lady Lancers finished the season a perfect 25-0.

The lead changed hands five times during Sunday's game. Argyle last led the match in the middle of the third quarter, 25-24. After that, it was all Elba. Senior forward Meg Stucko scored 14 of her 15 points in the second half to help Elba pull away.

Elba junior McKenzie Bezon was named the Class 'D' state tournament MVP.

The championship win was the first statewide title for Elba in basketball. Only Notre Dame has won the girls championship before from Genesee County.
