The Town of Batavia was not the only site under consideration for the Project Wave yogurt manufacturing plant, but it was the best site.
according to a high level executive with Pepsico.
Pepsi is one of two corporate partners in Project Wave, now under construction in the Genesee County Agri-business Park.
Mark Koenig , Director Engineering and Technology for Pepsico, spoke to the annual luncheon of the Genesee County Economic Development Center Friday afternoon.
"The things that you guys are doing from an agricultural stand point is best in class. Your milk supply, your milk availability and quality is absolutely best in class."
"Through the cooperation of everyone in this room, a 30-month project will be completed in 18 months."
The project puts Pepsico together with a German firm, Mueller Group, to build a $200-million yogurt manufacturing facility expected to employ 300 people.
