So far no arrests in Friday’s bank robbery at the Five Star Bank Branch in Pavilion. Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies say a lone bandit made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. The robber reported said he had a gun, but none was shown. He’s described as a 5 foot 8 inch to a 6 foot African-American man who was wearing a red baseball hat, a blue/white button down shirt, blue jeans and a pair of puplish/blue reflecting sunglasses. It is believed that the suspect escaped in a vehicle that was parked on the north side of the Bank.
The National Weather Service has issued a high wind advisory for our area from 8am this morning until 6PM tonight. Winds are expected to be out of the west at 25 to 35 miles per hour gusting to 50 miles per hour. However temperatures will be in the mid 50’s and we can expect partly to mostly sunny skies
Two men were arrested by the Genesee County Drug Enforcement Task force last night during a traffic stop on Ross Street. During the search the task force members found a quantity of crack cocaine worth an estimated street value of one thousand dollars, along with crack smoking devices, and over 550 dollars in cash. 33 year old Chad Allen and 53 year old Irowin Wilbert both of West Main Street in Batavia were charged with various drug possession charges. They’re in jail with bail no bail set.
Batavia Police last week made another Crack Cocaine arrest. 29 year old Milton H. Simmons the third of Franklin Street in Batavia was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and with attempted escape after he was arrested during the investigation of a physical altercation with a knife complaint in the parking lot of a West Main Street Business. A search of Simmons car produced 44 glassine bags of Crack Cocaine. He also attempted to escape from custody while being transferred from his arrangement to the jail. He’s in the lock-up with no bail set.
37 year old Timothy Taylor was arrested following a verbal argument which turned physical. Batavia Police were called to a State Street location and arrested Taylor on assault charges. He’s in jail with bail set at 5 thousand dollars.
Harassment and Obstructing Governmental Administration charges have been placed against 29 year old Daniel Orlando of East Main Street in Batavia. He was arrested following an incident at his home.
He allegedly physically obstructed Batavia Police during the arrest.
Bail in his case has been set at 3 thousand dollars.
The violation of a Stay Away order of protection has landed 31 year old Nicholas Lyons of State Street in jail. He was found to be in violation of the order when police responded to a disturbance call at a home on State Street.
Batavia City Council will be in session tonight. First a special conference meeting which will be followed by a regular business meeting. The joint session gets underway at 7PM in the Council Board Room on the second floor of the Batavia City Centre. Anyone may speak at the meeting by signing in with the City Clerk prior to the start of the meeting.
