Only 16 percent of us have returned those census forms.
That’s the average participation rate among Genesee County residents.
Jill Babinski is a senior planner with Genesee County.
She said the numbers compiled by the census, "affect every part of your life."
They are used for economic development, distribution of funds and grant applications, "it makes sense to be counted," Babinski said.
The participation rate, or the number of people that have returned their census forms in Genesee County range from a high of 36 percent from Town of Bergen, to a low of 4 percent in the village of Alexander.
