National Fuel is warning customers about a utility scam making its way across the country.
Scammers are attempting to acquire social security and banking numbers by pretending that they’re a government program that will help people you pay your utility bills.
First they ask for the personal information and then they give out a fake account number tied to the fictitious program.
The scammers are attempting to solicit the information by phone calls, e-mails, and going door-to-door.
National Fuel is reminding customers that its employees always carry photo ID and travel in designated company vehicles.
They are advising people to call the police if you feel you’re being victimized.
