About a half dozen people rallied against “bath salts” in Batavia Wednesday morning.
The protest took place in front of the head-shop 420 Emporium where community members cried out for the store to stop selling the synthetic drug.
Brandi Smith said she took part in the protest to warn everyone about the dangers of “bath salts.”
“My brother is an addict of “bath salts,” his life and our lives have been changed, it seems like forever because of this. I don’t know if my brother is ever going to be the same again,” said Smith.
Smith along with her mother Nicolette Lang organized the event, where cars drove by honking their horns in support of the effort.
Meanwhile, the designer drug also gained attention of local State Assemblyman Steve Hawley who is signing onto several pieces of legislation to strengthen the state’s ability to eliminate drugs like “bath salts”.
