A suspect is behind bars this morning from a weekend stabbing in Batavia.
55-year-old James Smith Junior has been charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
The incident happened early Sunday morning at 509 Ellicott Street.
Batavia Police tell us Smith stabbed another man with a folding pocket knife.
Police said Smith and his victim knew each other.
The unidentified victim was taken to Strong Memorial in Rochester.
His injuries were described as, not life-threatening.
Smith is being held in the county jail without bail.
Another church break-in in Batavia.
But this time, there is an arrest.
22-year-old John Cabrerra was collared Saturday night when police responded to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Washington Avenue.
This was the latest in a series of church burglaries in the city.
BPD says they will use DNA evidence from other crime scenes to see if Cabrerra is involved in any other break-ins.

A Tonawanda woman was jailed for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest when she was thrown out of the concert.

A number of highway re-paving projects begin today.
In the town of Batavia, part of Route 33 will be re-paved.
In the towns of Darien and Alexander paving will begin on Route 238.
In Bergen, Route 33 from the intersection of Route 33A to the Monroe County line will be re-paved.
Motorists are reminded that speeding fines are doubled in a work zone.
The paving projects should be wrapped up by August 1st.
