A Batavia man has been killed in a one-car crash in Darien.
47-year-old Brian J. Gazda of 9430 Halstead Rd., Batavia died early yesterday morning on Simonds Road.
Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies said Gazda was northbound in his Chevrolet Corvette around 2am, when the vehicle ran off the highway and overturned several times.
Gazda, who was alone in the car, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
A Mount Morris woman is behind bars on this Sunday after allegedly leading lawmen on a high-speed chase through two Livingston County towns.
48-year-old Jane Fixter is facing charges of Drunk Driving, Reckless Endangerment and fleeing from a police officer.
She’s jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Deputies say the chase began around 7pm Saturday when a witness noticed a car traveling erratically on Route 15A in Lima. The chase continued through Lima, into Avon and then Geneseo when state police finally halted Fixter’s car with road spikes.
The Batavia City Council meets tomorrow night.
City lawmakers are expected top approve a new contract with the city’s CSEA union.
City Hall says the pact will cost taxpayers $79,000 over the next five years.
The city’s been negotiating with the union over the past six months.
The contract applies to 17 full-time city workers.
The council meets at 7pm Monday night in city hall.
Catholic Charities of Western New York reporting on the status of their campaign.
Officials with Catholic Charities say the drive is at 84-percent of its 10 and a half million dollar goal.
The drive continues until June 30th.
