Heidi Schollard Sentenced
1 and one-third to 7 years in prison is how long a Batavia woman will serve for stealing from two elderly women she cared for.
40-year old Heidi Schollard was sentenced in Genesee County Court this afternoon.
Schollard pled guilty back in May to stealing $300-thousand dollars from one of her victims and 100-thousand from another and wrongfully receiving unemployment benefits.
Guardians for both of her victims made statements in court today. They described Schollard as manipulative, remorseless and deceitful. Judge Robert Noonan said this case only proves that there really are people out there trying to take advantage of the elderly.
Schollard was also ordered to pay over 334-thousand dollars in restitution.
Summer in the City takes over Batavia
It’s an event that brings many from across the county together.
Summer in the City is taking place today in downtown Batavia. Batavia’s Business Improvement District and area merchants are sponsoring the event.
Assistant with the BID Laurie Oltramari says over a thousand people are expected to pile into the city for the event.
“A car cruise with classic and vintage vehicles, there’s going to be over 100 vendors of food and crafts persons and artists. There is going to be an area for non-profit groups and also a kids zone,” said Oltramari.
She says its fun for all ages.
Main Street from Court to Liberty streets are closed and blocked off for the event. Summer in the City will go until 9 PM tonight.
