State Police will be on the look out for drunk drivers now through the Labor Day Holiday. Extra police will be patrolling as part of the STOP-DWI Crackdown effort, where there will be sobriety check points set up in various locations on State roadways.
All 62 Counties in the State will be participating in the initiative. State Police Zone Sergeant with Troop T Brian Guise said the effort will ensure that everyone feels safe while driving.
“We want to get the word out so hopefully people will think twice before they drink and drive. If they’ve had a couple drinks they might think twice about having the third or fourth one before they choose to operate their car and drive home,” said Guise.
Guise said additional patrols will also be looking for motorists speeding through work zones and people using their cell phones while driving this week as part of another effort called "Operation Summer Brake."
