A place to drop off your old prescription drugs is now available 24-hours a day, 7-days a week in Batavia. Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Monday that there will be drop boxes placed at nine State Police Troop Headquarters across the state.
The boxes are a secure place to anonymously dispose of unused prescription medications and controlled substances. Cuomo said he hopes the drop boxes will help keep harmful substances out of the hands of those who would abuse them. 70% of the abused prescription medications are obtained from friends or relatives.
The prescription drop off location in Batavia is at Troop A Headquarters located on 4525 West Saile Drive. Hazardous materials and needles are not accepted. Pharmacies and medical providers are not allowed to take part in the program.
