The Genesee ARC invites the community to tour their new recycling facility, but why would anyone want to do that, you ask? There's more to recycling than meets the eye.
In an Open House on September 27th at its new recycling facility, the Genesee ARC plans to educate people on the various ways to recycle and repurpose materials.
From office supply binders, to glass bottles, to old CD containers, Executive Director Donna Saskowski says there are infinite ways to reuse materials to limit the stress on landfills.
“Hopefully people will learn all the different things that actually can be recycled and reused,” Saskowski said.”
At the Open House there will be an opportunity to sign up for a chance to win a gift basket, and other giveaways made – of course – of recyclable materials.
Overall, the ARC hopes to educate people about not only the importance of recycling, but also the many ways it can be done.
“I think people coming in can be educated about what recycling is all about, and that there are so many things you can recycle that people even realize,” Saskowski said.
The Genesee ARC Open House takes place September 27 from 4 – 7:30p.m. at its facility on West Main Street.
