Recently reappointed Town of Batavia Councilman Chad Zambito has won the Republican primary for a Town Board seat in November.
Zambito defeated former councilman John Gerace by a vote of 197 to 89.
Gerace had resigned his post earlier this summer following self-described bad behavior at a firemen’s social function.
The decision by New York State to hold three separate primary days cost local governments’ big time.
Analysts believe the extra primary day cost local governments in New York State about 50-million dollars.

Two Medina men are facing arson charges for allegedly burning down an abandon home in the Town of Ridgeway.
One volunteer fireman was injured.
It happened on Wednesday night.
Deputies charged 21-year-old Edward Schneider the Third and 20-year-old Christopher Swan with arson and assault.
The house, on Ridge Road in Ridgeway, had been vacant for three years. It was owned by Schneider’s mother.
Batavia Police have put out the help wanted sign.
The department says they are looking for qualified candidates to fill open police officer positions.
The job pays 37 to 55 thousand dollars a year.
