New York is being recognized for being an energy-efficient state.
The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy rated New York number three behind Massachusetts and California in its state-by-state scorecard for energy efficiency released yesterday.
The group compared states' policies and programs to encourage the efficient use of energy. The group noted that New York has a goal of reducing the state's energy consumption by 15 percent by 2015.
