Fresh Life for New York State Parks
State parks around New York are getting a face-lift thanks to an infusion of capital improvement funds.
Construction in a variety of parks is now underway following a $143 million investment to pay for repairs and maintenance.
Park advocates say the new financing will improve many pressing health and safety problems in New York's 213 parks and historic sites.
Batavia Man Reunited with Long-Lost Motorcycle
by Sloane Martin
More than a dozen years in the making, Mike Lullo is reconnected with the motorcycle he bought in college.
His 1969 BSA Rocket 3 – a desirable bike at the time and considered an original “super bike” – fell out of his possession due a supposed miscommunication with a former tenant.
Lullo describes his reaction when he finally saw the motorcycle come out of the crate:
“I’m so happy I could dance,” Lullo said laughing. “It’s been a long, hard search, but it’s mine and I got it back.”
The motorcycle ended up in England and that owner did some tremendous restoration work. Lullo is working out plans for the motorcycle.
“It’s not going to be what we would call a ‘daily rider.’" Lullo said. "The vintage (aspects) of this are pre-fuel injection, pre-electronic ignition. It’s an old-timer. I’m not going to put it in the retirement home; it will go to cruises, shows and stuff like that. It’s not going to get a ton of miles on it.”
After enlisting the help of Batavia Police, the auction website eBay eventually led them to the man in England.
Lullo says the motorcycle is the last vestige of his youth.

Cuomo Trying to Assist with Maid of the Mist
Governor Andrew Cuomo is working to save the Maid of the Mist after the boat tour company lost their Canadian tours.
A Cuomo administration source tells the Buffalo News that the governor feels this as an important issue, and he is exploring all possibilities to make sure the boats keep running.
The company lost their location to store boats on the Canadian side, and now have no place to store their vessels in the winter. The site of the former Schoellkopf Power Plant is being considered as a location for the boat storage.
