Orleans County still leads the way in Western New York in terms of unemployment.
According to data released by the state department of labor, OrleansCounty’s unemployment rate stands at 9.9 percent. That’s the fourth highest of all counties in New York.
Tomkins County which includes Ithaca has the state’s lowest employment rate at 5.7 percent.
Genesee County’s September 2012 employment rate is 7.1 percent -- unchanged from August and slightly higher than one year ago.
