Alexander is the most affluent school district in Genesee County. That’s according to more research released this morning by Buffalo Business First.
It evaluated the share of students eligible for free or reduced price lunches, the percentage of students living below the federally designated poverty rate and the combined wealth ratio…a measure of property and income wealth within each district.
Alexander ranked No. 143 followed closely by LeRoy, Pembroke and Byron-Bergen. Batavia ranked the lowest in the county at No. 302. The research claims the Batavia district provides over 46 percent of students with free or reduced-price lunches and that over 21 percent live below the poverty line.
Pittsford and Niskayuna are the most affluent districts out of 430 evaluated in Upstate.
Business First says this socioeconomic research has nothing to do with academic ratings. That data will be released Thursday.
