A Batavia man is under arrest after police say he was under the influence of drugs when he almost ran a law enforcement vehicle off the road and then led officers on two separate chases.

Todd Weaver is facing weapons and driving while ability impaired charges in addition to a charge of fleeing police, Batavia Police Chief Shawn Heubusch said.

Police say it started when Weaver rammed a patrol car in Medina after 5:30 this morning. Weaver fled Orleans County, but less than an hour later, Batavia Police spotted the vehicle in the city around Oak and Richmond Streets.

According to police, Weaver drove through several residential streets at 50 miles-per-hour and avoided spike strips. Police say they were eventually able to get Weaver when his car ran out of gas on Clinton. Weaver reportedly refused to get out of the vehicle so officers broke the window to remove him.

Additional charges are pending.
