As Judge Robert Noonan sentenced a former corrections officer and a former jail employee Monday for felony DWI charges, he said “it boggles my mind that someone who has so much  to lose can go out and do the same conduct over and over and over again.”

Rusty Vanson was sentenced to a four-month intermittent jail term starting in February, five years of probation, a $2,000 fine, and was ordered to use an ignition interlock device. The former corrections officer says he plans to remove his car from his possession. He was also ordered to attend treatment sessions for his alcohol addiction. Judge Noonan says Vanson is extremely lucky that in the four times he’s been arrested, he never killed anyone. Vanson expressed his sincerest apologies, telling Judge Noonan that, “I want to assure you I get it.”

Joanne Jefferson was sentenced this morning to one-and-a-third to four years in prison with a three-year conditional discharge. Her probation was revoked.
