State health officials are encouraging people to get vaccinated for the flu because the pace of infections is picking up.
Cases have been confirmed in 47 counties and all of New York City.
Flu season typically runs from October to May and peaks in the late winter and early spring. Last year, almost 1,200 people were hospitalized due to the flu.
Pharmacies in Batavia offer immunizations for the flu, but some require appointments.
