Apple, Google, Facebook, Amazon, and other firms are teaming up to pay for more than half a billion dollars worth of patents from Eastman Kodak. 

The patents deal with technology that allows people to capture and share pictures. The former photo giant has been struggling to adapt to the global shift to digital photography.

Kodak had to sell the patents in order to secure financing to exit bankruptcy.
