A pedestrian walking in West Main Street last evening around 9 o’clock, was struck by a car. 52 year old Kevin Viehdeffer of Batavia suffered possible head injures and was taken by Mercy Flight to Strong memorial Hospital in Rochester. The driver of the west bound pickup truck was identified as 25 year old Ryan Gugel of Batavia. No charges have been placed against Gugel. The investigation into the accident is continuing by Batavia Police. Viehdeffer was walking eastbound in the west bound lane of West Main Street.
A Rochester man has been arrested after his car struck a house on South Main Street in Batavia early Saturday morning. 22 year old Corey Goff of Mt. Read Blvd in Rochester has been charged with DWI, reckless driving, unreasonable speed and several other charges after his car went out of control in the roundabout at the intersection of Pearl Street, route 33, and South Main Street, Route 98. No one was home when the structure was hit. The residence did sustain damage but was deemed to be structurally sound.
A Holley man was injured Friday night in a snow mobile accident on Bennett’s Corners Road in the Orleans County Town of Clarendon. 35 year old Steven Belknap was operating his snow mobile when he crashed the vehicle head on into car. Belknap, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from the machine. He was taken by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester where he is listed in guarded condition. The driver of the car, 19 year old Travis DeYoung of Clarendon was not injured. Orleans County Sheriff’s Deputies say Belknap faces charged of operation of a snow mobile on a public highway and operation of a snow mobile while in an intoxicated condition.
The Town of Batavia Fire Department collected more than 7 thousand dollars yesterday in their boot drive conducted out side the fire hall on Lewiston Road. The money will be donated to the West Webster Fire Department and distributed to the victims and the families of the Christmas Eve ambush of fire fighters.
