A source tells WBTA that the City of Batavia plans to open up the bidding on trash collection today at 1 p.m.
Here's background on the City's decision to open up the service to bid. Trash collection has been the Genesee ARC's responsibility for nearly 30 years. The ARC employs dozens of developmentally disabled people who participate in the trash pick-up.
The City of Batavia has opened its trash collection service to bids and today it will hear what those bids are.
This afternoon, City Manager Jason Molino says the City will read the bids out loud and document them.
Following the announcement and recording of the bids today, Molino says the City Council will review those bids and make recommendations. Molino estimated that the final decision on the trash collection service will decided in a few days.
