Catholic Charities of Buffalo has announced it aims to raise more than $10 million in its 2013 appeal. Diocese of Buffalo Bishop Richard Malone says their target is $100,000 more than the amount raised during 2012.
“As followers of Christ, all of us are challenged to serve those who are poor and most vulnerable in our community," Bishop Malone said yesterday. "We are all asked, because of that commitment, to support the wonderful and, really, urgent work of Catholic Charities.”
Officials say that around 60 percent of the money raised by Catholic Charities goes to help the poor, anti-domestic violence programs, immigrant services and more. The rest goes to the Bishop's Fund for the Faith, which benefits ministries throughout the diocese.
