The Wiss Hotel in LeRoy is likely to be taken down.
Village trustees Wednesday failed to vote on a motion to make a counter offer for a group of local residents to buy the property and then passed a motion looking for proposals to have the building demolished.
Experts say the Wiss building is structurally sound, at least visually, and some residents argue it could be transformed to drive tourism and revenue to the area. Proponents of bringing the building down, though, say it’s a fire hazard for other Main Street buildings and unsafe for youths who apparently sneak inside.
